Heirloom Fruit Watercolors

About & Sources

Heirloom Fruit Watercolors is an independent reference that organises the USDA Pomological Watercolor Collection by fruit and variety. The collection — roughly 7,500 watercolours painted 1886–1942 — is held by the U.S. National Agricultural Library and is in the public domain as a work of the U.S. federal government.

Variety histories are consolidated from public-domain and openly-licensed sources and dated; where a fact is uncertain it is omitted rather than guessed. Images link to the National Agricultural Library originals.
