Cortland Apple
Cortland was bred in 1898 at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, a cross of McIntosh and Ben Davis. Bright red over a green ground, it has tender, very white flesh that is slow to brown, with a mild sweet-tart flavour — qualities that made it a favourite for salads and fresh eating.
